I love working with the Norwegian creative team Dag Drømmerne, they have such a particular aesthetic, both dreamy and intricately detailed, that resonates so perfectly with my style.

Earlier this year I was contacted by lovely Irene of High Emotion Weddings in Vienna…..she had seen the navy and gold ‘Emilie’ gown and thought it would be a perfect fit for her ‘Sleeping Beauty’ inspired shoot in the atmospheric surroundings of Bran Castle in Transylvania (also known as ‘Dracula’s Castle). The champagne beaded tulle ‘Artemis’ gown also seemed to be ideal for the Fairy Godmother, and I was able to recommend the beautiful headpieces of HF Couture to complement both styles. I’ve also long been an admirer of Russian photographer Elena Pavlova, so was thrilled to hear she would be shooting the story.

Irene’s meticulous planning, and ability to pull together an international team of creatives, resulted in these gorgeous scenes so wonderfully captured on film by Elena (with second shooter Luciana and videographer Rares getting some great BTS images and video footage)……

A huldra (from the root meaning ‘covered’ or ‘secret’) is a creature from Norwegian folklore, also known as the skogsrå or Tallemaja (Pine tree Mary) in Sweden, or Ulda in Sami mythology

I first met Norwegian photographer Mona Moe Machava last year in the South of France at a wonderful photography workshop hosted by charming Lisa of the Norwegian Wedding Blog. This was a fabulously creative few days led by JFD faves Koby and Terilyn of Archetype Photography…..a chance for photographers to meet, socialise, learn, and share ideas in an idyllic setting in the hills outside of Cannes.
Anyway, I have been following Mona’s work via Facebook since then and have fallen in love with the magical images she captures in the forests and fjords of Norway with her creative partner Barbro, collectively known as ‘Dag Drømmerne’, or the Day Dreamers.
I was so thrilled when they asked if I’d like to collaborate on a shoot or two, and jumped at the chance to send some gowns over to Norway earlier in the summer.
These delicious images are the first results of that collaboration…..

Part IV of the ‘Into the Woods’ shoot captures the classical beauty of the ‘Tadema’ design, the structured gilded lace of the warrior queen bodice offset by the suppleness of the cobweb soft tulle and silk chiffon skirts…

The third set of images in our ‘Into the Woods’ series captures the romanticism of our ‘Tennyson’ dress, a slither of softest French lace (custom tinted to a delicate seafoam) and pale celadon silk satin. Hanging strands of ivory guipure lace flowers  accentuate the neckline and hem, and flutter in the evening breeze. An intricately beaded band holds back those tumbling locks.
This lady, Anne-Charlotte, gazes out over the lake of waterlilies from her stone escarpment, catching the last of the sun’s rays before wandering through the wood to make a rustic halo of  vines and ivy to wear on her journey to find her elusive knight……

Part II of our ‘Into the Woods….’ shoot with Jacqui McSweeney Photography, this episode featuring the ‘Gainsborough’ gown in olive green silk satin overlaid with soft nude tulle embellished with floral motifs in the prettiest shades of rose and lavender. For the shoot we wanted to lightly reference those lush Thomas Gainsborough portraits of luxuriously clad Georgian beauties set against darkly wooded parklands.
That magnificent hat is the creation of milliners Lomax and Skinner, and as before, the elaborate plaited and knotted updo and delicate porcelain make-up look were created by Simply Beautiful Wedding Hair and Harriet Rainbow.
The lush florals were supplied by Miss Mole’s Flower Emporium.
Our Titian haired muse is Anne-Charlotte @ MK Model Management
